It can be so easy to overthink things sometimes.

What else can I add? Is this outfit too plain? Did I put on too much? Should I take something ~~off~~?

RMRS Hotties!

I admit it, I’ve been TERRIBLE at showing off my favorite looks from Real Momma, Real Style lately. I usually check out everyone’s outfits on my phone, so I forget to go back and do a post. Lame excuse…I know.

So it’s official….hubs rocks!

I don’t know how he got up to go to work EARLY today so we can go to Disneyland this afternoon after the weekend he had.

Top/Jeans: Old Navy, Undershirt: Shade, Belt/Shoes: Target, Bracelets: Downtown

Saturday he let me run around all day child free….ahhh!!! Hair appointment, Jiffy Lube, Costco, and Chinese Foot Massage all in one day sans kiddo. Magical!

Of course my killer Target clearance find shoes had to accompany me on my day of freedom. Only prob, it’s cold here….in LA….in June. Anyone else confused?

I’ve always run the other direction from anything with an ankle strap, no need to make these legs look shorter. But I was determined to find a way to make these work! Too cute to only wear covered up by pants or skirts

Not sure if I’m a fan of the slouchy belt on me. Kinda just looks more like a pooch highlighter. Hey, I tried!

Love my new shoes, love my new hair, love my hubby induced photoshoot laughter, and LOVE MY HUBS!!!

Happy Memorial Day!!!

I hope you all are enjoying this wonderful official start to summer. Here in LA we are having beautiful weather, perfect for a family trip to the park!

Of course the weather was beautiful until picture time. Then you would have thought a tornado was blowing through the park by how it was whipping my dress around like a rag doll.

We’re going to call this the holy cow I’m wiped edition of Real Momma, Real Style.

Why?

Cause we just got back from a very busy, very long weekend away….but that’s a story for a time when I can see straight. For now, enjoy my awesome yellow outfit from a week ago. Yeah, I admit it…. this outfit is from last Sunday. We spent today in the car looking like hot messes. Not exactly style worthy today

It took me for.ev.er. to figure out how to wear this awesome top. I love it to pieces, but the high neck makes it hard to pair with a sweater or something to cover my arms. I’m so happy I didn’t give up on it cause I love how this outfit turned out!

Real Momma, Real Style {New Style}

Courtsey of the Blogger breakdown last week, the whole New Style Link Up party got just a little off track. So I thought it would be fun to combine the two link ups! Besides, it gave me a chance to really step outside the box and try something new!

Meet Sydney’s crazy but cool scarf tucked into a belt. Fun…yet totally out there for me. There’s just something about the look that is so appealing, yet different enough to scare the daylights out of me.

So let’s be real on this one…it was not my idea. Ashley put the scarf on me, tucked it into my belt, and told me I was wearing it. She’s crazy genius like that.

Sweater: Loft, Undershirt: Downeast Basics, Jeans/Scarf/Belt: Old Navy, Flats: Guess

The one thing that bugged me was that my scarf was long enough for a 7 foot woman….not cool. So to make it shorter like Sydney’s, I simply tucked the ends up and under my belt.

I love how the scarf looks with my sweater…but I’m not sure I’ll be trying this look again with this scarf. It’s just too stinkin’ long! The tuck under worked, as long as LJ didn’t want me to pick him up. Otherwise I ended up looking super cool like this!

FAIL

Real Momma, Real Style {Fashion Week Edition}

IT’S FASHION WEEK!!!!

To commemorate this week of pure fashion awesomeness, I thought this week’s Real Momma, Real Style would be a great time to take a trip down memory lane.

Some of you may remember that fashion originally played NO part in Momma Go Round. Who the heck was I to talk about fashion??? When we took LJ to go see his first movie last summer, I got “cute” by wearing this…

I know, hold the applause. Stunning, right?

So I decided to branch out the wardrobe a bit and did a five part series on how I was branching out….

This was post #1…a knit hat and a t-shirt….don’t hurt yourself there now Nina. But, at the time it was different for me, so I was proud.

The very first Real Momma, Real Style actually saw a leap into the land of “I tried”.

Not too shabby…the belted thing was new. A collared shirt under a sweater was too. But I was still playing in the land of colors and styles I was comfy with.

And then came the dreaded SKINNY JEANS…bum bum bum. Here came the big guns. For those of you who are new here, or need a little reminder, I’m 5’2″ on a good day when I get out of bed and stretch, and I was THRILLED when my weight started with a 1 again. I always thought skinny jeans were the devil! Little did I know they would come be my favs because they actually stretch in the hips but yet come in at the waist so no gap…HOORAY!

Pretty soon scary colors and the dreaded tucking in entered the wardrobe. Finally, I feel like I’m getting somewhere.

Though my journey is far from over, I am excited at all I’ve learned.

When I look good, I feel good.
I am worth taking care of myself.
A happy me = a happy home.
My boys deserve the best me possible, not the slopped together me I kept giving them.

So this week mommas, I CHALLENGE YOU to take a step forward. Try something new! Put on that color that scares you back into bed! Tuck in your top or wear those skinny jeans out of the house. DO SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF!

Spring and all it’s ~~allergies~~ beauty is in full bloom here! Time for pinics in the park, long walks in the evening, grilling, and of course, spring dresses

It’s funny for me to think back to my younger self and guess how hard I would have laughed at me for this outfit! A dress…funny. Flowers…histerical. Pink…total riot. In high school and college I didn’t wear a dress unless I had to. Flowers were for old ladies. And pink? Really? That’s a joke, right?

Now….aaahhhh. A light spring dress {with pockets to boot}, nothing better!

It was even so nice out that our itty bitty balcony looked like a beautiful place for pictures. {Props to Photoshop for dealing with the big red ball and turtle sandbox

Real Momma, Real Style #11

For too many years, these killer shoes have been hiding in the back of my closet. These babies were made to shine!

Fast forward to Friday night and I spend more than a little too much time trying on every skirt-cardigan-blouse combo I can come up with to find the perfect outfit to show of the killer shoes at my SIL’s baby shower.

Black tank, cardigan, skirt: Old Navy. Belt: Target. Shoes: Seychelles via Nordstrom Rack. Bracelets: Nordstrom. Ring: Little Miss Momma

I couldn’t be HAPPIER with how it turned out! Not only is this more color than I think I’ve ever worn at one time, but it’s more pattern and interest than I thought I knew how to work with!

The outfit was the perfect springy look to celebrate my new nephew on the way!

Real Momma, Real Style #10 {YIPEE}

I can’t believe it guys, we’ve made it to RM,RS #10!!! I’m so excited and proud of so many of you who are working so hard on your style, trying something new, jumping into the deep end….you know what I mean!

Last week we had 45 hot mommas link up. 45! I absolutely love getting to go visit each one of you (if I missed you this week I’m so sorry, strep throat knocked me out for a few days). I’m getting so many great ideas from you all, so keep the posts coming!

On to the show!

This week, I was beyond lucky enough to be part of the Old Navy Style Council again and try out one of their new spring dresses!

While these pics are not my fav (taken as I was coming down with strep and the hubs was already sick), this dress is! The jersey is so soft and flowy, I’m in love with the color, and can we talk about the waistband. Thank you Old Navy for realizing that those of us who are, shall we say, well endowed, need to be cinched in at the waist so we aren’t a GIANT column of fabric!

I don’t know what I think about wearing it with just a cap sleeve under. I’m REALLY self conscious about my upper arms, so I tend to layer. Not sure I’m loving it with the grey cardigan…I might try a shrug next time. But the dress….winner, winner, chicken dinner for me!
