Holiday Photos To Love {With Eva Jared Photography}

I can’t even wrap my brain around the fact that the holidays are just around the corner. Maybe it’s because it’s still in the high 70′s around here, but the holidays have totally just snuck up on me!

My favorite part about the holidays is getting new family photos taken. Growing up, we were terrible about getting family photos done. It’s only now that we look back and wish we had taken the time to do them every year. Now with a little family of my own, I’m determined to make it a priority to capture our family each year as we grow.

The hardest part….choosing what kind of photos I want to do! Last year we had the amazing team at Eva Jared Photography capture a day in the park for our holiday photos, and I couldn’t love them more!

Today, Eva from Eva Jared Photography is here to share some ideas for holiday card photos to get your wheels turning. Here’s Eva!

Well the holidays are right around the corner and you know what that means. Time to get a holiday photo to send to your family and friends! When taking a holiday card picture the possibilities are endless. So I thought I would present some ideas and you could consider what style best fits you and your family.

You can go for a very Christmasy picture…I loved this shoot because the pictures really get you in the holiday spirit!

You can highlight one member of the family to be the star. Let’s be honest, the kids are the cute ones anyway.

You can highlight a big event like an addition to the family or a wedding…I love to see pictures of what people have been up to every year.

It’s always classic and never goes out of style to go for the traditional family picture.

But the most important part is to have fun with it…and be yourself!

SO FUN!!! I just love the collage of cute kiddo shots. Now if only I could get LJ to cooperate…..

A Vintage Quandary

I guess it’s a good problem to have, but it’s a problem none the less. My Grammy gave me a huge bag full of awesome, amazing, totally stunning vintage napkins to craft away with!

And they’ve been sitting in that bag for months :(

Some of them have the most beautiful crochet and embroidered trim.
Others have adorable flowers with perfect scalloped edges.
I just have no clue what to do with them! I would hate to cut up these beauties for a craft that I don’t just love.
Got any brilliant ideas for me?

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

This morning I pulled up here…

With this little goober…

And found this…

Anyone see what’s missing?

Let’s just say it was NOT our most productive trip to TCP. Though LJ handled it like a trooper! It was a very big boy moment for him.

*I’ll give you a hint, it has wheels and keeps the child CONTAINED!

I Should Be A Model

Nina: That’s it, you MUST do all my real momma pictures from now on. They turned out perfect!

Ashley: I know, I should be a professional photographer. And you should totally be a model.

Nina: Yes, a 5’2″ plus size model, cause I’m a HIGHLY under-represented demographic.

*If a sarcasm font were available, this ENTIRE post would have been written in it.

I Can’t Imagine

“Dad, leave me alone!”
“DAD…..stop it!”
“DAD!”

My bed was bouncing me awake from my peaceful coma-like sleep…usually a sign that my dad was being a doof again and thought he was being funny.

But my Dad wasn’t there.

I sat straight up and shot out of bed. I could hear my parents screaming for me to get up. My mom was running toward my brother….her bedroom door swinging SMACKED her straight in the chest.

All I remember is standing in the doorway thinking “will this ever end?”

It was 4:31 am, January 17th, 1994.

The Northridge earthquake, a magnitude 6.7 just hit LA.

I remember standing out in the middle of the street with our neighbors watching the sunrise, making sure everyone was ok. For some unknown reason, the telephone in our garage was the only one working in the whole neighborhood.

I spent the next few nights sleeping in the doorway of my parents’ room. I should say resting, cause very little sleep happened. Every aftershock sent my heart into my throat.

And this was NOTHING compared to today.

I keep thinking of the kids who are there and how they must be feeling. I remeber how frightened I was…

My prayers are with you.

Time for a Facelift

One word comes to mind when I think of my bedroom….

BORING

When we got married closing in on 6 years ago, I had NO idea what my style was, let alone what our style was going to be.

This is the bedding we have now, though this is soooo not my bedroom.

It’s ok. I like the colors. It’s just a bit blah. The bedskirt looks like it’s been mauled by a tiger and LJ thinks the big white pillows are his personal trampoline.

They look lovely.

Time for a bedroom facelift!!!

Now I just have to figure out what my/our style is. I’ve only had 6 years to stew on it, but apparently that’s not long enough.

I love the grey walls and graphic pillows here, but the orange is a bit, um, eh, poopy looking, and that duvet would stay white for exactly .03 seconds.

I LOVE the idea of a patterned wall paper or something graphic. But for now we are in an apartment, so that will have to wait :(

I LOVE just about everything in this bedroom from Sarah’s House (she’s a genius!). I want to mix patterns and textures like these pillows, drapes, and headboard, but I’d like to add a bit more color!

Like THIS maybe! This blue is just beautiful…but I’d have to mix it just right with the greys, white, and black that I seem to be leaning towards.

Aaahhhh, facelifts are hard! Have any suggestions?
