Pinterest For The Win

How many of you are as guilty as I am?

We pin, and pin, and pin, with the greatest of intentions, yet never seem to get around to it.

The amazing mantle display.

The delicious looking recipe.

The killer outfit that you totally have the stuff to recreate.

For once, I decided to actually stop thinking about a great idea and DO IT!

By the afternoon/evening lately I’m so tired that it takes all my energy to simply stay awake. Not so great for keeping the kid entertained.

Dollar Tree pipe cleaners, strainer, and 45 minutes later….we had a masterpiece.

Thank you Pinterest for saving me from another evening of Pixar/Dreamworks/PBS hell!

A Little Life

Slowly but surely, I’m returning to the land of the living. Laundry that hasn’t been done since before we moved (shhh!) is finally being tackled. I’m getting dressed in more than just my pjs or sweats. And the child is finally getting potty trained….hooray!!!

It may not be the most exciting life ever, but for me it’s a huge relief to feel like I’m getting some of my life back.

Here’s a little glimpse at what we’ve been up to!

LJ trying out one of Daddy’s Warheads. Makes my mouth water and pucker just thinking about it!

Catching up on stencil orders. Did you know I have a stencil shop? Yeah, most people don’t…

Cereal for dinner, cause that’s all that sounded good. (PS anyone know how to remove that stupid grout putty that the old owners put on, off?)

The fam at Uncle Blair’s graduation from UCSB. Go Gauchos!

So proud of this guy :)

LJ L.O.V.E.S. his Papa. These two are peas in a pod when they are together.

Doesn’t everyone have a bag of DumDums in the bathroom? I’m not above bribery to get this potty thing down!

It’s simple, some exciting, some mundane, but it’s life. And right now, any life that doesn’t exist on my couch or in my bed is an accomplishment! What have you been up to?

Holiday Photos To Love {With Eva Jared Photography}

I can’t even wrap my brain around the fact that the holidays are just around the corner. Maybe it’s because it’s still in the high 70′s around here, but the holidays have totally just snuck up on me!

My favorite part about the holidays is getting new family photos taken. Growing up, we were terrible about getting family photos done. It’s only now that we look back and wish we had taken the time to do them every year. Now with a little family of my own, I’m determined to make it a priority to capture our family each year as we grow.

The hardest part….choosing what kind of photos I want to do! Last year we had the amazing team at Eva Jared Photography capture a day in the park for our holiday photos, and I couldn’t love them more!

Today, Eva from Eva Jared Photography is here to share some ideas for holiday card photos to get your wheels turning. Here’s Eva!

Well the holidays are right around the corner and you know what that means. Time to get a holiday photo to send to your family and friends! When taking a holiday card picture the possibilities are endless. So I thought I would present some ideas and you could consider what style best fits you and your family.

You can go for a very Christmasy picture…I loved this shoot because the pictures really get you in the holiday spirit!

You can highlight one member of the family to be the star. Let’s be honest, the kids are the cute ones anyway.

You can highlight a big event like an addition to the family or a wedding…I love to see pictures of what people have been up to every year.

It’s always classic and never goes out of style to go for the traditional family picture.

But the most important part is to have fun with it…and be yourself!

SO FUN!!! I just love the collage of cute kiddo shots. Now if only I could get LJ to cooperate…..

Just for MGR readers, Eva Jared Photography is offering a holiday card special!

The special holiday package includes a holiday card shoot in the Los Angeles area, and the picture CD for only $100 dollars. You can print your own pictures or order professional prints through us! Simply visit Eva Jared Photography and mention the MGR Deal on the contact form.

A Vintage Quandary

I guess it’s a good problem to have, but it’s a problem none the less. My Grammy gave me a huge bag full of awesome, amazing, totally stunning vintage napkins to craft away with!

And they’ve been sitting in that bag for months :(

Some of them have the most beautiful crochet and embroidered trim.
Others have adorable flowers with perfect scalloped edges.
I just have no clue what to do with them! I would hate to cut up these beauties for a craft that I don’t just love.
Got any brilliant ideas for me?

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

This morning I pulled up here…

With this little goober…

And found this…

Anyone see what’s missing?

Let’s just say it was NOT our most productive trip to TCP. Though LJ handled it like a trooper! It was a very big boy moment for him.

*I’ll give you a hint, it has wheels and keeps the child CONTAINED!

I Should Be A Model

Nina: That’s it, you MUST do all my real momma pictures from now on. They turned out perfect!

Ashley: I know, I should be a professional photographer. And you should totally be a model.

Nina: Yes, a 5’2″ plus size model, cause I’m a HIGHLY under-represented demographic.

*If a sarcasm font were available, this ENTIRE post would have been written in it.
