Timeless {Agape Love Giveaway}

There are some things that just never go out of style.

A black blazer
Classic trouser jeans
A white button up
Riding boots

While I certainly love trying out the new trends, adding a funky pop of color or a great print, I will always keep those timeless pieces on hand to mix and match with.

With bright colors being so trendy right now, sometimes I feel like a walking glow stick if I don’t tone it down a bit. The cardigan helps in this case, but the outfit was just so stinkin’ boring.

Enter the timeless black necklace.

The timeless simplicity of The Black Pearl necklace from my friend Maria of Agape Love Boutique was the perfect piece to help! Gorgeous black glass pearls and an antique bronze chain and bow…this baby is as timeless as a trench coat!

Maria has some of the most beautiful designs, along with tons of fun, trendy pieces.

Mother’s Day anyone? I think I know a grandma or two who might see the Blessed necklace in their future ;)

I love the love necklace….hehe. Corny, I know ;)

Swoon. I was totally born in the wrong era…The Vintage Lace Headband is soooooo amazing!

Lucky for us, Maria is offering lucky reader a $25 dollar credit to Agape Love Boutique! Can I win my own giveaway?

A New Appreciation

As we get closer and closer to move date, our apartment is getting closer and closer to looking like a disaster zone.

Boxes are piled anywhere that doesn’t have furniture occupying the floor space.
What toys LJ has left out are sprawled all over his room and the hallway.
Cooking should be considered an Olympic sport for how many hurdles I have to jump over.
Let’s not even talk about LJ’s attitude. The mess is obviously messing with him.

With all this chaos, I have found a new appreciation for the little things, like clean clothes, a tantrum free day, not having to cook dinner, and my favorite new necklace from my friend Kashoan at Krafty Kash.

How could a vintage dictionary “fashion” pendant not make me smile?

I met Kashoan at CE, and I instantly fell in love with her beautiful pendants (she was pretty awesome too, I guess ;) ). She’s lucky enough to live in a part of this country that’s rich with history, antiques, and all the awesome vintage stuff that LA is simply too new to have :(   My fashion pendant is made from a vintage Webster’s Dictionary….how cool is that?!

Necklace: c/o Krafty Kash, Sweater: Loft, Leggings: Target, Boots: Annie, Belt: Old Navy, Ring: Charming Charlie, Watch: Michael Kors

With all this chaos around me, this little thing is definitely a big thing to me!

Want a beautiful Krafty Kash creation of your own? Kashoan is offering MGR readers 20% off! Enter “FASHION” in the coupon code at checkout. I promise, you will fall in love with yours too!

Perfection {Scarlet Samples Giveaway}

To keep within my minuscule shopping budget, I keep a running list on my phone of pieces I really want/need/need to replace. Sometimes I’m able to find those things quickly, other times I have list lurkers who seem to hang out on the list for months.

A great turquoise necklace has been lurking for a good 6 months now.

I’ve tried all my usual places over and over again, all without success. Anything that was in my price range was either not what I envisioned, or just plain tacky. Sometimes you can get away with plastic rocks…but not for a great statement piece.

Then came along Scarlet Samples. Perfection. The turquoise necklace that I’d been searching high and low for was there. The gorgeous Woven Turquoise Chip necklace retails for almost $90 (not exactly momma budget friendly), but I was stunned to see Scarlet Samples selling it for only $44. Half price…not too shabby!

What struck me most was the quality. This is not some hunk of junk. Beautifully crafted, real gemstones, and has that “this is a quality piece” weight to it. I don’t have a doubt in my mind that this necklace is going to serve me well for years to come!

Scarlet Samples works directly with the manufacturers to score samples from their collections at a fraction of the cost! Some of my favorite pieces are…

The Bold Mookaite Stretch Braclet. Retail: $47   Scarlet Samples: $23.10

The Graduated African Yellow Jasper Necklace. Retail: $52  Scarlet Samples: $25.87

The Black Agate Cleopatra Style Frontal Necklace. Retail Price: $98.80  Scarlet Samples: $49.50

Scarlet Samples wants to share their amazing finds with YOU! One lucky reader will win a $25 credit and free shipping to Scarlet Samples!

An Apple A Day {Head & Shoulders}

During the winter, I get super dry, itchy scalp, especially here in LA where the weather changes every few days. My skin and scalp can’t keep up!

Recently I found that using Head & Shoulders has totally changed my itchy situation and left me with beautiful hair all day.

The shower is often the only time of the day I get truly just for me. Crank up the heat, let the steam build up, and use my girliest, fruitiest scented products to help me escape to somewhere else.

While the results from Head & Shoulders were great, I was really missing my old shampoo and conditioner. I love the sweet, fruity smells to help me feel like I’m at a spa far far away, rather than in a tiny bathroom with Curious George playing in the background.

Head & Shoulder Apple Hair Care to the rescue!!! I could not have been more excited to hear that Head & Shoulders had a new fresh green apple scented shampoo and conditioner.

Great hair, no itchy scalp, flake free, and my coveted fruit smell all in one? It’s my winter wonder product!

At first I have to admit,I was worried. I just got my hair cut and colored, and we all know that salon trip isn’t cheap. But with Head & Shoulders, I could rest easy that my color was safe because it’s pH balanced for everyday use, even on color treated or permed hair. No more washing all my color out in the first shower!

The shampoo is a bit stronger smelling than the conditioner, but together they create a great green apple smell without feeling like you’ve been punched in the face by an orchard.

With Head & Shoulders, I don’t get that stubborn itch that seemed to plague me every winter, but I don’t have to sacrifice my shower time luxury scents!

Now that I’m rocking some longer locks, I’ve found that with other shampoos and conditioners my hair feels dry and tangled by the end of the day but not anymore!

Even after a long day at the park with LJ my hair looks, feels, and smells so fabulous that I’m ready for date night! Seriously, I’ve shelled out the big bucks for some salon brands and never will again. My hair is soft and shiny, my scalp is itch and flake free, and I get my fruit in the shower…WINNER!

Blogging Around The Christmas Tree

Christmas time, while undoubtedly the most stressful time of year, it’s totally my favorite. I’m not a huge holiday decorations, festivities, hoopla kinda person, so Christmas is the one time I actually haul out the decorations and get festive!

We finally busted out our awesomely fake tree, shatter proof ornaments, and Fisher Price nativity set the other night and set up Christmas. The occasion totally called for dressing up, or something like that.

I even busted out the boots I bought last year and haven’t worn much since. I was still too afraid of skinnier pants to wear them much, and this year I’ve been too obsessed with my new ones. I forgot how much I like these, though I have zero idea what website I got them from. The brand is Annie and they are wide shaft if you are looking ;)

Dress: Anthropologie, Sweater: Fourth & Towne (no longer exists), Tank: Shade Clothing, Necklace: Gift, Boots: Annie

Speaking of Christmas trees (you know you love that cheesy transition!), I’m so excited to share that I’m taking part in Blogging Around the Christmas Tree hosted by the awesome Abbie of Five Days, Five Ways

Each day has a fabulous post and linky party that you can share your post on too! I’ve been sick and MIA for the last few days, so I didn’t get a chance to announce the beautiful Christmas Card party going on over at 36th Avenue yesterday!

Learn to make this adorable Christmas card, link up your Christmas cards, and be sure to check out Desiree’s amazing post today showing off her beautiful decorations!

Up TODAY is my girl Cori from La Vie Petite teaching us how to accessorize for the holidays!!!

Could she be any more amazing? Go check out these amazing posts, link up yours, and join us in getting ready for Christmas!!!

Smurftastic!

La, la, la la, la la

Stuck in your head now too? hehe

The Smurfs….my childhood favorite. Ranking right up there with Rainbow Bright and Strawberry Shortcake, The Smurfs were a can’t miss show for me as a kid. Of course Smurfette was always my favorite, but Papa Smurf was a close second ;)

A few days ago, I got to share my favorite with my little favorite when LJ and I were invited down to the Sony Pictures lot to celebrate the release of The Smurfs on DVD and BluRay TODAY!

LJ wasn’t doing so well sitting for long periods when The Smurfs were in theaters, so this was really his first exposure to the loveable little blue guys. I think he likes them…

These guys certainly earned their Smurfberries with how many hugs they had to give that day!

When LJ wasn’t busy being borderline creepo obsessed with The Smurfs, he had a total blast playing with the new Smurf-O-Vision!

Smurf-O-Vision is an amazing free app for the iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch that syncs with the movie for a second screen experience. I’ve never seen or heard of anything like it, and it was awesome! Smurfs appear to sing and dance along with the movie, but LJ’s favorite was all the fun activities like zapping Gargamel, popping popcorn, and stacking Smurfs into a huge dog pile. He had such a blast!

My favorite part of the day was getting to watch the all new The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol. Take the classic Christmas Carol story, smurf-ify it, and you end up with an adorable tale that everyone will love. You even get to relive the glory days with some classic Smurf animation :)

And then, there’s all The Smurf products….my 6 year old self is super jealous!

All kinds of amazing stocking stuffers! LJ’s favorites are the coloring book and the water bottle (cause it’s just like Daddy’s, only Smurf-ier), but we both agree on one thing…

SMURF SMELL ROCKS!!! Ok, it’s not really called Smurf Smell, but how else do  you explain it to a 2 year old?

There’s six Smurfs Fragrances that come in these adorable milk cartons for each of your favorite Smurfs: Papa, Smurfette, Grouch, Guts, Clumsy, and Brainy (he’s a Smurf hunk in my eyes ;) ).  Brillantly, these eau de toilets are not super strong, so when your kid goes a little Smurf-crazy, you don’t want to pass out.

Judging by the kiddo watching The Smurfs, eating Smurf animal cookies, snuggling his Smurf, with water in his Smurf water bottle, I think it’s safe to say The Smurfs are no longer just my favorite, they’ve become our favorite!

You can make The Smurfs your family’s favorite with the release of The Smurfs on DVD and BluRay TODAY!
