Stripes and Dots

Pattern mixing.

Just the words are enough to send shivers down my spine.

I’m a solids girl….patterns and I have never been BFFs. I’m realizing that my wardrobe is in serious need of some patterns, but everytime I look for some, I just feel like most aren’t “me”.

I’m lucky if one patterned piece makes it into my outfits for the week. Never, ever, ever, have I worn more than one pattern at a time. Well…until now.

EEEKKKK!!!

This outfit ranks right up there with the first time I belted a sweater on the scare-o-meter. I’m still not sure I truly love how it came out. The pink dot top is rather floaty, even when tucked in, so I thought buttoning the sweater would help. Now, I’m doubting that choice.

Whether or not I’m 100% convinced of how I put it together, I am convinced that these two patterns/colors work perfectly together. It just felt really soft, and sweet. Perfect for our dear friend’s wedding reception on a Summer evening.

Skirt: La Vie Petite, Top/Cardigan: Old Navy, Shoes: Soda via Marshalls, Belt: Target, Bracelet: H&M

Of course, the spectacular Awning Stripe Skirt from La Vie Petite stole the show. But my favorite moment of the night came from my dear friend’s mom who saw me sitting at a table and said, “It’s so fun to see you in real life. I’m so used to seeing on your blog!”. That literally made my night. HI MARIE!!!!
