I FINALLY did it! My poor, abandoned little sewing machine has been sitting in the corner, hardly used for a year. I’ve done a few projects lately (coasters and yet to be revealed fun), but nothing major. Well little friend, I say NO MORE!

Meet my very first “I actually made it all by myself and my Grammy didn’t have to rescue me” skirt! It’s a minor miracle that this baby made it to my roomie foreva’s bridal shower Saturday.
I was up far past my bedtime trying to finish this thing the night before. Why, you ask? Hi, I’m Nina. I’m a former 5th grade teacher and apparently I can’t measure or do math.
Why? Cause my “finished” skirt was just a hair large. After taking it in 10 inches, we had a winner.
At least I didn’t put the bias tape around the hem until it fit. Live, learn, and make another skirt!

Shirt/Undershirt: Downeast Basics, Belt: F21, Skirt: Made by ME!, Shoes: Soda via Marshalls, Ring: Downtown
Besides the obvious awesomeness of seeing my favorite girls and rockin my new skirt, I saw this bad boy on the side of the road.
Pure awesomeness.
Last week’s most viewed outfit is…..

Peachy Keen from Modern Wivelyhood! You two look amazing and love that you didn’t plan this out. Classic!

Nina, great job on that skirt! Love the waist and the pink bias! Did you use elastic thread?
YES YES YES to the entire outfit!!!
Thanks for the party…love this day of the week!
WOW Nina! It turned out AMAZING! Seriously… and if you make another skirt.. please consider adding it to your shop! haha I want one! LOVE the fabric/colors! I so want one!
You know whats funny? I always look at all the pictures in your blog post FIRST then scroll back up and start reading from the top again. (I do this because I am so visual and if I read first I will stop at the pictures for too long and forget what I read.. haha Im weird, I know) LOL Anyways So I did that and was thinking omgosh I need to find where she got that skirt I need one! LOL Then I got back to the top to look at what you wrote, saw this was the one you made! And WOW it TOTALLY looks like you bought it somewhere.. totally legit! You did AWESOME!
BTW those shoes are so cute and your legs look amazing in them!
Oh I am LOVING that fabric!! Very cute outfit. Perfect for summer!
Your look amazing! I recently made a skirt for myself and mine, too, was too big and I had to take off about 10 inches– so if it happened to two of us maybe you are not measure/math challenged!! I hope you show us a tutorial for making this skirt, if is awesome!
Wow, Nina! You did a fantastic job!! Anything I have ever made was more along the lines of the “somebody help me!” thing you mentioned
. Great outfit! Glad you had a good time with your friends.
