How Quickly Things Change

After the debacle of our trip last weekend, and then digging out from the mountain of laundry we brought home with us, I decided LJ needed some good ol’ time outside to run.
Off to the farm we went, just the two of us, for a little fun in the sun. When we were there, it struck me that it’s been exactly a year since the first time we took him. Being the sentimental momma that I am….that hit me.
Dude, who is that kid’s mother and why did she let him leave the house with such horrible hair. Geeez!
Last year, all that kid wanted to do was plop himself down in the strawberry fields and gorge. Animals…nope. Play structures…nope. Eat…heck yes!
This year, he was far more into picking every strawberry he could see.
And my little OCD child had to pick every leaf off before he would even think of eating it ;)
Playing on the wooden train was suddenly awesome.
As was feeding carrots to the animals.
And I’ll never forget the accomplished look on his face when he climbed to the top of the hill to drive the truck.
It’s amazing to watch him learn and grow. Sometimes it’s hard to see just how far he’s come as we go through each day. But this day, I’m so happy I stopped to take a moment and soak it all in.
