Finding MY Voice

When I first started blogging, I didn’t know what to do. What to say. What to write.

Who the heck was I going to be as a blogger?

The first few months were ugly. A random, poorly written, BORING post every here and there. Not a hint of Nina to be found anywhere.

As I got a few more posts under my belt, I started to hit my stride a bit.

LJ started to appear.

Crafts found their way to the blog (no sew pacifier clip).

It was better, but it was still really hard. Blogging just wasn’t coming to me naturally. I had no idea what my voice was. What I wanted to say and who I wanted to be.

It’s wasn’t until Bloggy Boot Camp that I realized I DIDN’T HAVE a voice. I had everyone else’s.

I wanted to have funny mommy stories like her.
Do amazing tutorials like she makes.
Sew stunning projects like she creates.
Take perfect pictures like she does.

I’ve spent sometime this past week to really anylize who I am, what I want to blog about, what I have to say.

I realized that MY voice comes from the things that make me, well, ME!

Real Momma, Real Style cause well, I’m really a momma, whose a real size, who needs some real style! LOVE all you fashion bloggers out there…but can I get SOMEONE whose a munchkin or got some junk in their trunk???

LJ stories, cause he’s the engine of this momma go round.

Tutorials when I feel like them, not because I have to. I craft for fun, function, or cause I’m cheap…let’s be real.

I blog for ME!

So let me re-introduce myself.

Hi, I’m Nina. A former teacher turned stay-at-home mom whose on a journey to find herself again. Rolls, laughs, zits, meltdowns, snuggles, crafts, struggles, fails and all.

Real Momma, Real Style #7

I am SO excited for this week’s venture into the world of fashion! The more and more I do this, the more I’m pushing myself out of my comfort zone and trying new things :)

Dress: Target (available in stores now), Undershirt: Shade Clothing, Cardigan: Target, Belt: Forever 21, Shoes: Soda (buy here), Bracelet: H&M
I’ve always been afraid of mustard yellow. It’s bold. It’s a statement. It’s yellow…nuff said.
But when I won (heck yes!) a Tarjay gift card from Home By Heidi, I told myself that I could only get something for me if I pushed myself. So push right into 1970 I did :)
I loved the dress at first sight! The perfect cardigan was already in my drawers. And my “I must have you right this minute” shoes were calling for me from the closet. I knew this one was going to be a winner….but it wasn’t :(
The cardigan and dress together made me look like one long COLUMN of fabric. Great for hiding c-section pooch, terrible for showing off curves. A belt was definately in order, but I didn’t even come close to having one that worked.
Since everyone and their mother (Ashley, Heather and Terri!) has been raving about the accesories at Forever 21, I figured I’d break my vow of NEVER shopping there again and try it out. SO glad I did $4.80 belt :)
So YEAH for scary colors! YEAH for not pairing it with the expected brown or black! YEAH for Forever 21 and their cheap awesomeness. YEAH for pushing myself. This outfit is just YEAH!
What was your YEAH moment this week?
