The other day, my girl BFM (Big Fat Mama…don’t you love her already?!) from Cooking Up Faith asked me to guest post with a few of my style tips.
I was stunned….style, ME??? Sweet!
So when she had a few questions for me on my thoughts about style and being a momma, I jumped onboard. Here’s my thoughts to BFM’s questions
1. How has your style changed from before you had a baby to after you had a baby?
I have to admit, I’ve actually gotten MORE stylish since having the kiddo! I was really lame in high school and college and basically wore jeans and a t-shirt everyday.
2004
This was as “jazzed up” as it got.
My body changed a TON after LJ. I weigh less than I did when I got pregnant, but most of my old bottoms don’t fit anymore
But magically, I developed a waist, so I was forced to figure out what works for me now. MUCH BETTER if I say so myself!
2. Which store do you think has the best fit in jeans, but at an affordable price?
Hands down, Old Navy. Especially since I usually end up with some form of LJ goo on me during the day, I refuse to pay much for my jeans. They do stretch a little much during the day, but a quick trip to the drier and they are good to go!
3. What are 3 items you think every mom needs in her closet?
Skinny Jeans (I promise you can rock them!)
Great Wrap Jersey Dress
Black Blazer
4. Where are your favorite stores to shop for “mommy attire” (cute but comfy)?
I’m CHEAP, and I believe I’m in the stage of life where my clothes need to be disposable (cause where did this stain come from and WHAT is it?). I get almost everything from Old Navy, Target, or the JCrew Outlet. I don’t feel as bad throwing out a shirt I only paid $5 for.
With this method, I’ve learned I have to shop differently. I can’t shop at the beginning of the season or in giant bunches. Cheaper items simply don’t last as long, so I’m always shopping. I really spread out my clothes budget and am constantly digging the clearance racks.
5. What do you think is the most important thing to know about style and fashion?
What your body type is!!! There’s this great website Shop Your Shape where you can not only put in your measurements and find out your shape, but get recommendations as to what styles will flatter you most!
My style is definately a work in progress. Some days I don’t make it out of my pjs, others I get my look just right. The biggest thing I can say is don’t be afraid to try something new!
